Today is Ash Wednesday and the beginning of the Lenten season of preparation for Easter. We turn our eyes again to our mortality and our need for a Savior.

Ashes to ashes. Dust to dust.

Turn from sin. Be faithful to Christ.

May God our Father forgive us our sins and bring us to the eternal joy of his kingdom, where dust and ashes have no dominion. Amen

(The Church of England, Absolution B 84)

“The choice for your way has to be made every moment of my life. I have to chose thoughts that are your thoughts, words that are your words, and actions that are your actions. There are no times or places without choices. I know how deeply I resist choosing you. Please, Lord, be with me at every moment and in every place. Give me the strength and courage to live this season faithfully…” Nouwen
